Myself (Christopher Gallo) and James Jhurani are in a class entitled Medical Robots, and our goal for this semester is to build a robot that can perform Lasik eye surgery. Or, at the very least, pin point the iris of a human eye, and cut a circle around it with an actual laser. Overall a rather interesting project.
Here is what we had to start with
Robot01
Our professor was kind enough to give us a Lego mindstorm kit, and last Sunday we sat down and started construction. Out goal was mainly to build something that just moved, and to get a feeling of how the Lego bits worked with each other.
An hour later we had a robot that could driver around, kinda neat.
Robot03
I don't think Lego is going to be able to be used for the base of the little apparatus we plan to build, but it will be instead used to guide the movement of the laser and attached camera.
Hopefully more to come as the project progresses.
