Optimization Presentation

Here is my presentation that I gave at ThePlanet.com on server optimization.

The slide show doesn't really hold as much information as the talk does, which I didn't bother to record sadly, but what can you do. Here it is though, looks nice I think.

LasikRobotFinalLasikRobotFinal

Here is the final presentation for our Lasik Robot. Overall it could have used a lot more polishing, but what can you do. The robot itself isn't much to look at, but I think the program that controls it is much more interesting.

A google search for Christopher Gallo finally has made it into the first few pages of google search. How awesome is that.

Now I just have to figure out how to get on the first page. Maybe actually posting some content would help...

Lego Robots part 2

The creation of the actual robot has been put on hold, pending some lego pieces coming in the mail, so in the mean time its off to software development.

Reading this book on Programming with Microsoft Robotics Visual Studio and some tutorials on the basics of MS Robotics I have been able to create a rather neat application using just their Visual Programming Language.

iPhone APP store subscription model ?

I read this article recently, that basically says that users who download an application from the App store usualy only use it once or twice. This can be problematic since users will likely be more hesitant to purchase applications since they know they are only going to use it a few times right after the download it and forget about it. Combined with the escalating growth of applications in the App store, leads to a bit of a problem for most appslications.

Creating a Lasik Lego Robot

Myself (Christopher Gallo) and James Jhurani are in a class entitled Medical Robots, and our goal for this semester is to build a robot that can perform Lasik eye surgery. Or, at the very least, pin point the iris of a human eye, and cut a circle around it with an actual laser. Overall a rather interesting project.

Here is what we had to start with
